The Urban Construction Laboratory was founded by Professor Richard Bender (of the University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design) and John Parman in May, 1989, to pursue research on issues of urban development. Based in Berkeley, UCL has clients in France, Japan, and the US—and research ties to those countries and to China, Germany, and Switzerland. When completed, this site will include links to UCL papers and articles, and a blog on urban development.
